NWTC offers Microsoft 365 to all current students and employees.

This service includes access to Microsoft Office Online and personal access to the Microsoft Office suite applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage.

You can also access Microsoft 365 and other software when you access Virtual Desktop. More information on Virtual Desktop.

 

Before attempting to install Microsoft 365, make sure there are no previous versions of the Microsoft Office application installed on your device. 

Access Microsoft 365 Online or Install On Your Computer:

  1. Login to My.NWTC. You may need to use multi-factor authentication to verify your identify. (Watch our short student portal login and secure video).
  2. Click on the Email icon in the upper right by the Shopping Cart.Shopping Cart icon and Email iconIf you are asked to login at that point, use your NWTC ID#@nwtc.edu to login (for example, 12345678@nwtc.edu, not your normal mymail email address).
  3. Once in your NWTC email, click the App Launcher (9 dots) in the upper left corner. Click on the app launcher in the upper left corner
  4. On the new screen, click the Microsoft 365 link at the top.  Microsoft Office logo
  5. Now you can either open the online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. by clicking the icons on the left side or click Install Apps and select Microsoft 365 apps to download the software to your computer.

            

  1. Follow the instructions to click on the downloaded file. If the file is not visible at the bottom or top of the browser window, go to the Downloads folder in Windows Explorer and double click to launch it. After the Setup file appears, choose Run to start installing.  After the installation is finished, you will be able to access the applications from your Start menu.

Set up instructions for your devices

Android

  • Microsoft 365 for Android™ can be installed on tablets and phones that meet the following criteria: running Android KitKat 4.4 or later version and have an ARM-based or Intel x86 processor. Office 365 apps cannot be installed directly to a Chromebook.
  • Remember to login by using your NWTC ID@nwtc.edu (do not use your normal mymail email address).

Chromebook

  • Microsoft 365 for Chromebook - Office 365 online version only. Microsoft Office apps cannot be directly installed on a Chromebook.
  • Remember to login by using your NWTC ID@nwtc.edu (do not use your normal mymail email address).

iPhone or iPad

  • Microsoft 365 for iPad® and iPhone® requires iOS 8.0 or higher. Office for iPad Pro® requires iOS 9.0 or higher. 
  • Remember to login by using your NWTC ID@nwtc.edu (do not use your normal mymail email address).

Windows Phone

Mac OS X

  • Microsoft 365 for Mac
  • Remember to login by using your NWTC ID@nwtc.edu (do not use your normal mymail email address).
  • Does require macOS 11.0 or higher.

 

Multi-Factor Authentication

Periodically, you will be asked to verify your identity a second way. If that happens, click Next.  

  • If you already set up your security method, you may get a security code sent to your phone or receive a notification from the Microsoft Authenticator app after you click Next.
