Answer

When it comes to purchasing your own laptop/computer for school, it’s a user preference between a PC or MAC.

If you enrolled in any graphic design/photography type programs, iMacs or MacBooks are preferred as they can accommodate the special software required for the courses.

If you don’t require special design software, a PC model (HP, Dell, or Lenovo) would be adequate. PCs and checkout laptops on campus are HP/Lenovo models. Some PC computers have a Windows operating system called 'S' mode. Software is managed as you can only buy and install applications from the Windows Store which is limiting for college needs. They are at a lower price point, but not as adequate.

We DO NOT recommend purchasing a Chromebook or tablet-type device for use with school programs/applications/software. These devices are not compatible with Microsoft 365 or other applications you may need to install or download and have very limited storage capacity.
