For the ability to “Read Aloud” in Canvas, while using the Chrome browser on NWTC laptops or student machines, an extension must be added to Chrome.
Locate the three-dot ellipsis on the far right of the address bar, and click on it. 
- Open Settings from the menu
- Open Extensions on the left side menu
- Click on the Chrome Web Store link at the bottom left
- Use the “Search Extensions” box to enter “Chrome Extension Reader 2”
- Install the extension for use
- Go back to Canvas and open the page to read aloud.
- Click on the Chrome address bar puzzle piece symbol
- Choose the Read Aloud extension
The browser will now start reading the selected page aloud.
