Answer
If you need to share a file with your instructor or have a group project and need everyone to be able to work on the file, you can email the file or create a link to it. This process allows the user or "sharer" to decide how to give permissions to the people they are sharing with.
Log in to your OneDrive using your NWTC ID# @nwtc.edu (for example, 12345678@nwtc.edu) Note: This is not your myMail email address.
Locate the file you wish to share, right-click on the file name then click "Share."
On the screen that appears, you can send your file via email or copy the link and share it that way.
Emailing
Enter the email address to send it to. Use the "Add more" feature to add additional addresses if needed. Use the icon to audit the permissions on how the file will be used. Change from "Can view" (can't make changes) or "Can edit" (Make any changes), if you want others to be able to edit the file. Another feature is "Can't download" (Can view, but not download). Type your message and click send.
Share Link
Start by clicking on the gear icon by the "Copy Link" button. Then choose what setting will work for you by clicking that choice. Choices are "Anyone," "People with existing access," or "People you choose." If the machine is an NWTC laptop, you will also see "People in Northeast WI....ical college." Make the appropriate choice for your situation and click "Apply."
Next, click on the button to adjust the permissions of how you want people to interact with the file. Same as the email permissions above (for example, Can Edit, Can View, etc.).
With these choices done, add the people you want to share the file with in the Add a name, group, or email field. Now, click on the "Copy link" button. Paste the link into the Add a message field. You can also add any other message you wish to send to the file share group.
