Answer

Chromebooks have a different operating system (Android) than Windows computers. This makes the Chromebook unable to accommodate the Microsoft 365 software that the college offers for free.

To use your Chromebook for any Canvas class, the recommended method is the NWTC Virtual computer, also known as Off Campus Software Access.  It can be used through the Chrome browser or by installing the Virtual app on your device. In this way, you can use Microsoft 365, and your NWTC OneDrive for downloading, saving, and creating new documents in a Windows environment. When using, always log off your “virtual session” to close it out.

Microsoft 365 Online can also be used in the Chrome browser to create and edit documents. Click on this link for more detailed information.
