Taking quality notes can be hard, but it doesn't have to be! Below are tips and resources to get you on the right track: 

Tips

  • Choose a system for keeping notes
  • Write about what you read
    • Paraphrase what you've read every few paragraphs.
    • Pull out key terms and write out the definition/s in your own words.
    • Write down any questions you have as you read.
    • Identify connecting ideas and concepts or any contradictory ideas.
    • Write a summary of the paper/assignment after you have finished.
    • *Keep track of your sources if you are required to provide citations.
