Answer

If you need to step away from a Library computer (for 10 minutes or less), it is always good practice to lock the computer to protect your privacy. You will not lose any of your work. When you return, enter your password, and you can continue where you left off.

***Note: If a library computer has been locked for an extended period of time, the computer will automatically shut down, and you will lose any unsaved work.

Three Ways to Lock a Computer

  1. Using the keyboard, press the Windows Logo key and "L" key - this will automatically lock the computer.
  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and click on Lock.
  3. Or, click on the Windows Start button on the taskbar, click the user icon, and select Lock.
