Answer

You can allow a parent or other trusted person access to specific information or functions in your account. This special account will allow the person to do any or all of the following:

  • View your grades
  • View your financial aid package
  • View your account activity
  • Make a payment on your behalf

Follow these instructions to allow access:

 

  1. Log in to the Student Portal using your NWTC ID number and password. You may need to use multi-factor authentication to verify your identity. (Watch a short video about how to log in to your account.
  2. Click Workday.
  3. Once logged in to Workday, click the profile icon at the top right.

  1. On the left side of the page, click on Contact.

  1. Click on the Friends and Family tab and then click the Add button.

  1. Complete the form.
  1. Relationship Types: Click on the three lines, and a drop-down box will open. Select the appropriate Relationship Type by checking the box. You may select more than one relationship type.
  2. Is Third Party User: Check the box
  3. Name: Enter first and last name of the third party.

  1. Click on Contact Information and then click on the Add button under Phone.

  1. Complete the required fields for Country Phone Code, Phone Number, Phone Device, and Type.

  1. Scroll down and click on the Add button under Email. Complete the fields for Email Address and Type. Other fields will complete automatically.

  1. Scroll down and click OK.
  2. The next screen shows a summary of the information you entered. Review and click Done at the bottom of the page.
  3. You will now return to the original Contact page and the Friends and Family tab. You should see your Third Party Contact listed. On the far right, click on the Actions drop-down menu and select Manage Permissions for My Third Party.

  1. Click OK on the pop-up box. The Third Party and Institution fields will fill automatically.

  1. Review the Tasks Available for Third Party User. Choose the tasks (permissions) that you wish to grant to your third party to view by checking the Allowed box. When done, click OK.

  1. Enter text into the Purpose of Waiver text box.

  1. Check the Confirm button.

  1. Click Submit at the bottom of the page.

The student portion of the process is done.

Instructions for the Third-Party User

  1. Two emails will be sent to the email designated for the Third Party in Step 7. The Workday link and username will be sent in one email, and the password will be sent in a second email.

  1. The Third Party User will click on the Workday URL in the emails, enter the Username and Password, and then click Sign In.

  1. The Third Party User will be prompted to change their password by entering the supplied temporary password into the Old Password field and then creating a new password. The new password will be entered in both the New Password and Verify New Password fields. New Passwords must be 15 characters long with a combination of capital and small case letters, numbers, and special symbols. Click Submit when done.

  1. You will be asked if you wish to remember this device. The Third Party User will either check the box for Remember this device and then click Submit or click Skip.

  1. The Third Party User is now in their account. To find the information they are permitted to see, they will type the keywords into the Search Box. For example, they might type Grades if the student allowed them to view that information.

  1. To view Grades, click in the Student Record field and choose Post Secondary or Continuing Education. Click OK.

  1. Select which Academic Period you wish to view the grades for. Click OK.

  1. The Third Party will then be brought to a screen that displays the grades for the student in the term selected.
