A drop-in session is a scheduled open time when students can receive academic support without needing to make an appointment in advance. You’re welcome to stop by at any point during the session—just plan to arrive about 20–30 minutes before the end to ensure there’s enough time to work together. No appointments are necessary! There's flexibility to work with a tutor or on your own. Tutors typically focus on a goal with a student for about 20 minutes and then have students work independently. More open workspace is available in the Library just outside the Green Bay tutoring lab.
Some sessions are led by Professional Academic Coaches, who facilitate sessions about available resources and course topics for the specific subject (for example, some anatomy or nursing subjects). They are a similar format to a general drop-in, so you can come when you can during the scheduled timeframe.
Most drop-in sessions are led by peer tutors. Tutors have taken the course before, so they are familiar with the class and its content. They help you with finding resources and guide you with your questions in a peer format. It’s relaxed and has a community feel. It is OK to make mistakes, share study tips, and learn ways to understand tough material together by breaking it down into understandable pieces.
All sessions will help support your progress in your courses!
