Typically, you will be citing part of a website (for example, one page or document).  

APA Format

General guidelines:

If there is an author listed:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date of publication). Title of article. In Title of book or larger document (chapter or section number).

Retrieved from Big Name Web site: http://www.someaddress.com/full/url/

If there is no author:

Title of article. (Date of publication). In Title of book or larger document (chapter or section number). Retrieved from

Big Name Web site:http://www.someaddress.com/full/url/

Example:

Rivera, A. (2011). Success stories: Alex. In 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Retrieved from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Web site: http://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/everyone/success/alex.html

MLA Format

General guidelines:

Author (sometimes it is an organization or government agency). "Title of Page." Title of Website, Publication Date, URL (without the http://).

Example:

United States, Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "Basics about Diabetes." Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 31 Mar. 2015, www.cdc.gov/diabetes/basic/diabetes.html.

AMA Format

General guidelines:

Author AA (if given; often websites have no actual author). Title of specific item cited. Name of the Web site. URL. Date published (if given). Date updated (if given). Date accessed.

Example:

Rivera A.  Success stories: Alex. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Web site. http://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/everyone/success/alex.html. Last updated November 9, 2011.  Accessed June 5, 2014.
